Getting my 21 day fix on!

Finally!! After waiting for what seemed like an eternity my 21 day fix Challenge pack arrived! I ordered it as a birthday gift to myself and I'm ready to get started!!
Haven't heard about the fix? Well its brand new from Beachbody the same people who brought you Insanity and P90x. This program takes the guess work out of portion control with these handy little containers. I'll admit when I saw these tiny containers I thought, "oh my gosh I'm gonna starve!" So without even starting the program I packed my lunch in the containers and wow they actually hold a lot more!

Each container is color coded for a specific type of food ex veggies, fruits, protein, healthy fats and oils. Its all based on your daily calorie needs!

Its been a week and the workouts are challenging but not impossible! I love that its a different workout everyday so I'm not bored! Personally, my favorite is Pilate's :).

A program that helps you learn to eat, 30 minute challenging but not impossible workouts and most importantly RESULTS!! So what are you waiting for?! Join me today! Click the link below to sign up for free with Beachbody and I can help you get started!!

Bedroom makeover!!

Whew! What a job it is to makeover a room! After staring at my daughters purple n white bedroom for 3 years now. I decided it was time for a change. I love painting and doing reno/diy stuff. Just the thought of making something pretty again inspires me to work hard! You can do anything you want if you put your mind to it!
So I don't have a real before picture, I apologize for that but I simply forgot. But from this pic you can imagine there was a wall border separating the purple and white. It had little flowers on it and was peeling off in places due to Lucy :). Here are some before pictures...
As you can see she's a destructive kid and decided to tear up her blinds. Ugh kids! That's her working on her tool bench. I was also washing her sheets she got sick thru the night- poor thing.
                                            Another wall...

So first thing I did was clear the room which sucked but I recommend going thru old toys and clothes then :).
Next I mixed up a mixture of fabric softener and hot water in a squirt bottle. I used it to spray the border in sections and let it soak for about 20 minutes. I then began peeling and scraping. I used a plastic scrapper tool to scour the wall that I bought at Walmart. Because her walls are textured it took me awhile to get it all off. The key here is to keep it wet, its much easier to pull off.

Finally as you can see from the pics it came off. Then I went thru and removed all the nails/screws so I could fix the holes. Whoever lived here before us went nail crazy I swear! I fixed the holes first by using a hammer and tapping the holes in. Then I sanded lightly to remove and loose pieces. After that I used drywall mud to put a thin layer over the holes. Be careful not to put too much putty over it because it will make for more sanding and longer drying time.

Let it dry at least an hour. The mud will look white when dry. Apply second layer if needed and mine did.

Time to sand! Using a piece of fine sandpaper lightly sand over the holes to create a smooth surface. I didnt make it totally smooth because her walls are textured. I made it blend :). I think it worked out well. I apologize for not taking pictures I was focused on getting it done Lol.

Once you have everything sanded the way you like you'll need to wipe down the walls to remove dust and dirt. I used a damp rag. I also vacuumed the room to get any dust off the floor.

Next, tape off your walls anywhere you don't want paint! It's very important not to skip this step and take your time with it making sure your lines are straight! It sucks when you realize you screwed up because you didn't take the time to tape correctly. I used green painters tape but they also have it in blue.

Time to prime! Always prime! Even if you don't think you need too- do it. It could affect the overall color of the room. I recommend Valspar high hiding primer! Use it anytime you are going from a dark or bold color to a light color. The good people at lowes can help you figure out how much you'll need. There's a equation to figure it out. 1 gallon gave me 2 coats and her room is about a 8x12 but she has high ceilings. Using a brush, roller or whatever prime those walls! Get all the cormers

Let dry according to manufactures instructions usually an hour before applying 2nd coat if needed.

Once you've primed-its time to paint! Make sure you have your floors covered with drop cloths for easy clean up. I should have said that in the beginning! Lol! Using a roller start painting in a large M or W fashion. Do not paint straight up and down or you will see the lines. You want it to blend. Do as much of the walls as possible with the roller then go back where you started at and using a small brush or trim painter do all edging. I used this little gadget that I picked up from lowes.
Its pretty handy I liked it. I'll definitely use it again. You can buy refills for it which is nice! Clean up is pretty easy too.

I applied 2 coats of paint and voila! Pull off the tape carefully and admire your work!

I used Valspar in Ancient Stone. I love the color and were actually painting most of the inside this color. It just works for me :)

So what is your next home project??

Yummy homemade granola bars!

Good evening!
Today as I was studying for my anatomy quiz that I have at *gag* 8am tomorrow morning I wondered what I could eat for breakfast on the go. I've been trying to eat healthier so fast food is out of the question.

While I should have been studying I was searching thru pinterest for recipes and came across a recipe for homemade granola bars! I love granola bars especially with the yummy candies on top ;)! The recipes I found didn't quite fit what I wanted or what I had on hand so I improvised. As I sit here typing I'm munching on a delicious chewy chocolate chip granola bar. Yep I made 'em and here is the recipe!

2 cups Quick cooking oats
1 cup Rice krispies (I used rice chex- its what I had on hand and it worked)
1/3 cup Light or dark brown sugar
1/4 cup Honey
1/4 cup Butter
1/2 tsp Vanilla extract
Chocolate chips/nuts dried fruit whatever you want for toppings.

Start by mixing the oats and cereal together in a medium bowl
Next, in a small pot combine butter, honey and brown sugar. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat and stir for 2 minutes.
Excuse the ugly stove top Lol.
Remove from heat and pour over oat/cereal mixture. Mix thoroughly coating everything! At this point you can add in your toppings or you can do it at the end. Its up to you! In a 9x9 or 13x9 pan pour the mixture in and level it out. I used a 13x9 pan because its all I had on hand. It didn't cover the whole pan but it was the thickness I wanted so I didn't care Lol. I then added chocolate chips and pressed them into the bars.

                 Should look like this.

Finally cool in the fridge for at least 2 hours before cutting. I cut mine after 2 hours but didn't remove them right away because they weren't set up yet. Your fridge settings may be different.

There you have it! A healthy homemade snack! Great for little ones and busy mornings on the go!

Try them and let me know how they turn out!

Yum yum

Sunday march 23 2014 deals

Well today I decided to gather my coupons and venture out to good ol' Wal mart for some deals. I made sure to check out Coupon Mom for lists of freebies and look for deals others have found on Facebook groups! I found a couple so I cut my coupons, made my list and headed out.
So it seems my Walmart is under stocking deals because for weeks I've been looking for Nivea lotion in the 2.6oz size and again today not there. Ugh! I think they know there's a really good coupon out there and choose not to stock it. Anyways rant over here is what I picked up...
Tide is on sale $1.97
I had 2 $1/1 coupons = 1.94 for 2
2 $1/2 coupons = $5.88 for 4 or $7.82 for all 6.
Zest is 97cents for 1 bar
I used $1/1 coupon FREE plus .03 money maker!
Finish tabs $3.97-mail in rebate makes this free!
Finish jet dry $3.57 mail in rebate makes this item free!
2 Zantac $7.58 each both are free with a mail in rebate!
Out of pocket I paid $31 but after m.i.r my out of pocket is only about $9 with taxes. I'm pretty happy about that! Its not much but every bit helps! There were many items I wanted to buy but they were out of stock. Bummer :(
What deals have you guys found recently?
Happy Spring!

All about the coupons baby!

What is Sunday morning like in your house? Do you sleep in, enjoy a late big breakfast with a hot cup of coffee and read the paper? If you're anything like me, Sunday morning is usually all about the coupons in the newspaper! Being a student, stay at home mom and living on one income- coupons help our family get what we need without paying full price. Some items I even get for free! Yes, you read that right FREE! Just today I got 2 ten pack of razors and eye shadow for free and I even made a few cents off of each! It's an awesome feeling when you see the total! You may have seen the show Extreme Couponing on TLC or some other channel showing couponers getting hundreds of dollars of products in one shopping trip for just a few bucks. Seems crazy right? Well I still haven't quite figured out how to pull a huge haul off like that but I do save some money. I don't have many stores to shop at where I live and I only have 1 store that doubles coupons. Therefore, its a little harder for me to do what those people do.

How do I do it you ask? Well first off you need to understand that it takes time to coupon. There is time put in for finding, cutting, organizing and planning. Also, don't expect to do what they do on TV. It just gives unrealistic expectations, but it is fun to watch :)! The next thing to do is find your coupons! Depending on where you live, you may get some really good coupons in your Sunday paper, if you don't you could maybe find newspapers from bigger cities around you at your local gas station or market. My city doesn't provide very good coupons so I actually get a Baltimore Sun, Pittsburgh Post Gazette and Washington Post. I usually only get 2 papers so I pick 2 that I like. It usually costs me $6. If your not up for buying a whole paper you can buy inserts online. I'm still looking for the best place to buy inserts from so once I find one I like- I'll let you know! You can also buy coupons from all over the country from www.Klip2save.com. They are a coupon cutting service. You buy however many coupons you want and they ship directly to your home already clipped! Shipping is cheap too! I use this service when I want more than 1 coupon that I found to be a great deal!

Another place to find coupons is online. Websites such as www.coupons.com, www.shopathome.com and www.redplum.com are all great resources for coupons! In order to print, you'll need to install a coupon printer on your computer. This is because each printer is only allowed to print 2 of each coupon. It's quick and very easy to do, I definitely recommend it. You can find many high value coupons online.

Next step- Where do I go from here? You'll want to do ad match ups to check items on sale with what coupons you have! You don't have to do this on your own. www.couponmom.com has ad match ups for stores all over the country such as Wal Mart, CVS, Rite Aid and Dollar Tree. I use Coupon Mom all the time to find the best deals. On this site she breaks it all down for you with how many coupons (and from which insert or online), product price, and price after coupons! It's pretty great- check it out! Before you begin any couponing make sure you know the coupon policy for the store you will be shopping at. It's important to have a copy of the policy with you when couponing so print it out and put it in your binder.

The final step is prepare your list, gather your coupons and go shopping! Of course this is a rough breakdown of couponing but in future blogs I'll break down a couple transactions, show you my method of organizing and get into more couponing details. Until then begin gathering coupons and check out the websites that I provided here to get started!

What do you think about couponing? Is it worth the time and effort?

Happy Clipping!

Here goes nothing!

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog! My name is Danielle, I'm 24 years young and I am beginning my blogging journey today! I've always enjoyed writing and keeping a journal. I'm a big reader and if that makes me a nerd so be it, nerds are cool too ;)! I live with my boyfriend and his daughter who is 5 and an American bulldog named Marley. I currently attend school and take care of his daughter, Lucy. It's a full time job! I enjoy crafting, DIY projects, and cooking!

The whole point in me starting a blog is a way for me to express myself and be who I am. It's an outlet for me when I need time away by myself because let's face it, we ALL need a time out every now and then :). Through this blog I hope to inspire others, create some awesome DIY projects, (and encourage readers to complete them too!) and hopefully make some new friends!

My blog will encompass everything from food and fitness to fun kid stuff and party planning! A big part of my blog will give details of my home renovations that I'm currently doing! I've been in wallpaper Hell for way too long! I think my blog will have a little bit of everything for everyone!

So I hope you all will join me on this journey to health, happiness and hope. It's bound to be a great one!

God Bless!
